Here in the great white north ( a reference to the snow ) it is our birthday.
On July 1st 1867 we became officially the country that we would become today.
There are many other dates you could pick, my family has been here since 1634, Jean for thousand of years before mine. Lots of history written in blood sweat and tears in between and since, but 1867, is the day we celebrate as our birthday, which incidentally was formed to stop American expansion.
Looking at today situation, .. Aren't we glad we celebrate today?
Meanwhile, here in Canada...
Amen, pass me a beer brother :-)
Happy Birthday Canada.
ReplyDeleteYou may not want to be a part of America (can't blame you) but we don't the Queen of England on our money;)
Fair enough Steve :-)

Didn't mean to spoil the festivities.
ReplyDeleteIf Vermont runs out of maple syrup, be nervous. Very nervous.
No problem Steve, we do happen to have a National maple syrup reserve. :-)
ReplyDelete.
I doubt we have that foresight.
ReplyDeleteReminded me of Renee singing Oh Canada at the Bruins/Canadians hockey games.
ReplyDeleteBeing a Cameircan (we hold dual citizenship and have lived many years in both countries), its a blessing to live in either country, each has some great national values and ideals, and each has had its struggles to live them out well at times. BLM reminds us of that in the US, TRC reminds us of that in Canada. Hopefully we will keep moving towards the ideal of everyone being treated with equal respect and opportunity. And I am truly thankful for my ties to each country and love the friendly rivalry between them. Now if we could just get the border open so I can do some shopping and visit family and friends....
