With the "new" end, I got the tip of the cutter at the center point of the diameter. With this configuration, I can start the cutter where I want, almost without a pilot mark. I am taking very good care of the new tip. I will be using it to make whistles. For Woodness Sakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17001908277880526346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1627331616161641107.post-32268169652031748782018-01-21T11:49:24.650-04:002018-01-21T11:49:24.650-04:00Good question, but hard to tell without seeing how...Good question, but hard to tell without seeing how it is currently sharpen, or bungled up?

I would first try to salvage it as a nose bit, go very slow do not remove much. Try and see how it is cutting or not. The bottom part should have its bevel on the inside to scrape the bottom of the hole. If it is sharpen with an outside bevel, it will have a hard time engaging the cutting lip.

And yes, worse case scenario, you can always change it to a shell bit. Let me know how you make out

Bob, back from vacation Valley Woodworkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07322487171914484954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1627331616161641107.post-55308190694214690802018-01-19T12:37:48.303-04:002018-01-19T12:37:48.303-04:00So, much thanks for the article. As it happens, it had been sharpened "inside out" with the long part of the nose to the outside. Now, I am wondering if it is possible to reshape the nose or do I end up with a shell bit.For Woodness Sakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17001908277880526346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1627331616161641107.post-44361190121556868892015-09-10T19:42:53.751-03:002015-09-10T19:42:53.751-03:00I'll wait for itI'll wait for it Ralph Boumenothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10606484453109932074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1627331616161641107.post-41306975258861113402015-09-10T14:22:54.356-03:002015-09-10T14:22:54.356-03:00Ah, you read my mind?
